Charleston SC SkylineAfter the dust or in some cases the snow has settled you are probably dragging yourself back to work, going over your new 2014 resolutions in your head, or even wondering how to start the new year off right! Well worry no further because I have compiled a quick list of activities to keep you busy and entertained. So after you have managed to regroup yourself from all the overeating, overspending and jet lag here are some activities in Charleston for the month of January:

5th Annual Holiday Pub Crawl - Continue through the first two weeks of January (Jan 1 - 10th) I can’t think of a better way to go “bar hopping” while spending 2 and half hours eating hors d'oeuvres and drinking pints! Take a historical tour of downtown Charleston while visiting several different pubs and enjoying your favorite beverages. Doubt you’ll remember the history lesson but I’ll bet the beer and appetizers will be good...Drink one for me!

2014 Inaugural Medal of Honor Bowl Game - Come see some of America’s top college football prospects play for their chance to be signed by the NFL and Canadian Football Leagues on January 11, 2014, at Johnson Hagood Stadium. This game is played in hopes that over 70% of the featured, invite only players will go on to live out their dreams and go pro. Are you ready for some football!?!

4th Annual Charleston Marathon - This one is “going the distance for the arts.” Starting in downtown Charleston and ending 26.2 miles later up in North Charleston on January 18th, there will be music and entertainment groups along the way to help keep you going. If you’re not ready to “go the distance” you won’t want to miss the opportunity to come out and support the runners. Heck...you can even volunteer and get a t-shirt to say you were in the marathon!

The Charleston Boat Show - The Lowcountry’s largest boat show and sale from January 24th - 26th at the Charleston Area Convention Center. Going on their 34th year with fun filled entertainment for the whole family. Boats from all sizes and price ranges from jon boats to yachts with educational programs and entertainment during the 3 day event. Hope I can find one on sale...

James Island Vikings 4th Annual Bo's Roast and Chili Cook-off - This years roast and chili cook-off will be on James Island at  The Smoky Oak Taproom on January 25th. Chili competitors will include several local restaurants and individual teams going for all the glory of being recognized as the best! Proceeds to support local cancer organizations with live music, adult beverages, oysters, chili and fun for the whole family. See you there!

These are just a few of the many events and activities in the Charleston area after the New Year kicks off for you to take advantage of. If you are not a resident of Charleston there is no better time than now. Properties are affordable and come in an array of price ranges...from the fixer-uppers to the multimillion dollar listings, come make Charleston your home.
